Support for teachers & schools

Teacher copy.png

For the last ten years of my NHS career, I was the Clinical Lead for Speech and Language Therapy in mainstream schools. I spent most of my time working directly in classrooms and supporting the teachers, teaching assistants and support staff who work so hard to create inclusive environments for children and young people. This experience means I understand the realities of school life and how to make support practical, proportionate and effective.

Through NeuroNurtured, I now offer schools a joined-up model of support that brings together speech and language therapy for pupils, coaching for parents, and training and coaching for staff all in one place. I am particularly excited to introduce a new package of support for Early Career Teachers and Coaching for NeuroDivergent Teachers (see below).

I work using a simple visiting-professional model, similar to how music or sports specialists operate:

  • schools advertise the service

  • parents book and fund sessions

  • schools host me on a regular, pre-agreed day in a small room

So one day it might be guitar lessons, the next, NeuroNurtured.

Fees reflect my level of experience, expertise and specialism. Discounts are available for block bookings (e.g. multiple SLT sessions, coaching sessions or training) or for where more than one child or staff member is seen at the same school.

If this feels like a good fit for your school, I would be delighted to discuss how it could work in practice and tailor it to your setting.

If you are not sure what support would work best for you, book a free 30 minute consultation and we can discuss how NeuroNurtured can best support you.

Training

Early Career Teachers

The early years of teaching can be both exciting and demanding. For many ECTs, supporting autistic pupils confidently and inclusively can feel particularly challenging, especially where initial teacher training has offered limited depth in this area. Targeted, autism-informed training and coaching can make a significant difference to confidence, classroom practice, and staff wellbeing.

This offer is designed to support ECT confidence and retention by strengthening understanding of autism, improving inclusive classroom practice, and providing a space for reflective problem-solving. It aims to reduce uncertainty, support positive behaviour and communication, and embed neuro-affirming, evidence-informed approaches that benefit both pupils and staff.

This year-long training and coaching offer is for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in your school who are supporting autistic pupils and those with AuDHD (Autism and ADHD).

The proposed package includes:

  • Three live online training sessions focused on practical, classroom-relevant support for autistic pupils, including communication, regulation, participation, and inclusion.

  • Up to six individual coaching or supervision sessions per ECT, booked flexibly across the year, to discuss specific pupils, classroom challenges, and inclusive strategies.

Intended outcomes include:

  • Increased confidence and reduced anxiety for ECTs supporting autistic pupils

  • More consistent, inclusive classroom practice across the school

  • Improved understanding of communication differences and behaviour as a means of communication

  • Reduced escalation of concerns through earlier, informed support

  • Improved retention and wellbeing of early career teaching staff

Neurodiversity

With 18 years of experience, I provide training for schools, health professionals, and families. If you have a training need, you can book a free consultation to discuss it. Training topics include supporting children who are Autistic, Able, and Anxious (Triple A), AuDHD in schools, introduction to autism, bespoke sessions based on children I have worked with, and topic-specific areas such as communication, sensory needs, and information processing. Sessions can be delivered online or in person.

The ideas below are just suggestions. I am always happy to create new sessions based on your requirements.

Sessions are typically £150 and last 1.5 hours, but this will be dependent on the content, delivery format, number of people etc.

I also offer discounts to schools if they book any follow up training sessions.

AuDHD: When Autism and ADHD collide

The training will follow a strengths-based approach to understanding children and young people who are both autistic and ADHDers. It recognises the unique interplay between these neurotypes, which can bring creativity, deep thinking, and passion, alongside challenges such as overwhelm, burnout, emotional dysregulation, challenges with time management, anxiety, and navigating relationships. It will include practical strategies for making reasonable adjustments in school.

Triple As: Autistic, Able & Anxious

Understanding the needs and reasonable adjustments required to allow Triple A students to thrive. Relevant for pupils who are autistic, cognitively able and often anxious. These are often the pupils who don’t meet criteria to be seen by NHS SLT teams or CAMHS, and whose needs can go unnoticed until they have severe mental health difficulties. With the right understanding and support, mental health difficulties need not be an inevitability for these pupils.

Practical Strategies for schools

This highly popular 3-part course is all about what teachers, TAs and LSAs can do on a daily basis to make their schools more neuro-affirming. It is packed full of practical advice for what to actually do each day to make reasonable adjustments truly achievable.

Includes short exercises to do between the sessions, for which I provide individual feedback to each participant.

Transitions

We all know that transitions can be hard for neurodivergent youngsters, but it isn't always easy to find ways to support them. In this session, I will introduce a more efficient and up to date way to support Summer transitions.

Individual child or young person

Once I have got to know a child, I love being invited into schools to give a short presentation about the child. This works best when it is incorporated into a staff meeting when all teachers can be present at once. The sessions usually last about 45 minutes and helps all members of staff to understand the child or young person better.

In order to ensure that the time is well-spent, I will always link the young person's presentation to neurodivergence in general so that strategies can be applied to other young people in the school as well.

Origami Paper Crafting

Visuals without the laminator

I have been into schools so many times, and heard the very valid complaint that LSAs, TAs and other staff members just don't have the time or resources to make a lovely laminated symbol of every, single thing the child needs. Even if they do, symbols are often lost, in a cupboard or in another room when they are needed. This session is all about ensuring the autistic children and young people have the visuals support they need, without spending hours making resources.

Individual coaching for school staff

Teachers, TAs, LSAs

Are you a neurodivergent teacher or member of staff working in a school? Or are you an adult who is starting to wonder about their own neurotype? Perhaps you have learnt about autism or ADHD through the children and young people you work with, and it has made you wonder if you might be neurodivergent too?

Coaching for neurodivergent teachers offers a confidential, supportive space to think, reflect, and develop strategies that work with your neurodivergence, not against it.

Coaching can help you make sense of your strengths and challenges, reduce overwhelm, and find practical ways to manage workload, communication, sensory demands, and transitions within the school environment. Sessions are collaborative and personalised, focusing on what matters most to you and what is realistic within your role.

This is not about “fixing” you or changing who you are. It is about understanding yourself, building confidence, and developing sustainable ways to thrive as a teacher while protecting your wellbeing.

Speech & language therapy

Speech and language therapy for autistic children supports them to understand and express themselves, build meaningful connections with others, and communicate in ways that feel right for them. It also helps reduce frustration and anxiety by finding practical, neuro-affirming ways for their voice to be heard.

Coaching copy.png

Coaching

Coaching gives parents, neurodivergent teachers, and health professionals a supportive space to make sense of autism, build confidence, and develop practical strategies that genuinely work in everyday life. It focuses on understanding strengths and needs, reducing stress, and helping everyone feel more empowered and effective.

Training provides clear, practical learning about autism and neurodivergence so parents, neurodivergent teachers, and health professionals can better understand behaviour, communication, and wellbeing. It builds shared knowledge and confidence, helping everyone to create more supportive, neuro-affirming environments.
