Support for children & young people

Supporting neurodivergent children and young people is at the heart of everything I do. I love working one-to-one with young people to help them understand their brains, feel less overwhelmed, and build a happier, more confident relationship with themselves. A central focus of my work is self-advocacy: helping children and young people to find and use their voice in ways that feel safe and empowering.

My particular specialism is working with children and young people who are cognitively able, articulate and often overlooked, those who may seem to be coping in school but are holding everything together at great personal cost. These young people are frequently highly anxious and may experience distress or meltdowns at home, even though this is not always visible in the classroom. While many have strong verbal skills, they may struggle to communicate when overwhelmed, upset or under pressure.

A formal diagnosis is not required. I regularly support children who are on waiting lists, or whose families are exploring whether neurodivergence might be part of their child’s profile and want support in place early.

I offer a joined-up package of support: speech and language therapy for the child or young person, coaching for parents, and training and guidance for school staff. I also work directly in schools using a simple visiting-professional model: schools host me for a regular day, parents book and pay for sessions, and children are seen on site in a quiet room, much like visiting music or sports teachers. If you would like me to explore this for your child’s school, I would be very happy to talk it through.

Fees reflect my level of experience, expertise and specialism. Discounts are available for block bookings or for where more than one child or staff member is seen at school.
Assessment options
Every child is different. Some families are just starting to wonder whether their child might be neurodivergent. Others need clear, professional evidence to help schools understand their child better.
I know that choosing to pay for private support for your child is a big decision. Many families come to me after long periods of being worried, waiting, or feeling unheard, and it is completely natural to feel anxious about cost.

My fees reflect the time, care and specialist expertise that go into every assessment. A high-quality speech and language therapy assessment involves far more than just a session with your child. It includes careful preparation, detailed analysis, and many hours of writing to produce a report that schools, professionals and families can genuinely use.

I have structured my services so that families can choose the level of support that feels right for them, from an initial conversation and guidance, through to a full, in-depth assessment when that is needed. I am always happy to talk this through with you and help you decide which option would be the best fit for your child and your situation.

My aim is that every family who works with me leaves feeling clearer, more confident, and better able to advocate for their child.

Listening & Clarity Session
A gentle, supportive first step if something doesn’t quite feel right.

This session is designed for families who have questions, worries or a sense that their child’s experience of the world may be different. We will talk in detail about your child, your concerns, and what you are noticing at home or at school. I will also spend some time meeting your child, either in person or online.

A thoughtful discussion of your child’s strengths and needs
-
Clear professional feedback
-
Guidance about what might help next
This option is ideal if you are not ready for a full assessment but would like expert, neuro-affirming advice and reassurance.

Focused communication assessment
A detailed look at your child’s communication and interaction.
This assessment is for families who have specific concerns about language, understanding, conversation, or social communication. It provides a clearer picture of how your child communicates and what support would be helpful.

A parent consultation

A written summary:

Practical recommendations for home and school
This option is often chosen by families who want professional evidence to support conversations with school or to guide support.

Full Autism-Informed Speech and Language Therapy Assessment
A comprehensive assessment designed for children with more complex or longstanding needs.
This is my most in-depth assessment and is appropriate when families want a deep understanding of how their child’s brain works, or when clear professional evidence is needed for school, EHCPs or diagnostic pathways.
It includes:
-
A detailed developmental and family history
-
Direct assessment with your child
-
In-depth analysis of language, social communication, interaction and sensory-communication differences
-
A full written report
-
Clear, personalised recommendations
-
A feedback session to talk everything through
Families often choose this option when they are exploring autism, need strong evidence for school support, or want a thorough, holistic picture of their child’s communication and needs.
Individual sessions for the child or young person

Speech and language therapy
Speech and language therapy supports autistic children and young people to communicate, understand others, and be understood in ways that feel right for them.
It focuses on building on a child’s strengths, supporting communication in all its forms (spoken language, gestures, visuals), and helping them navigate everyday interactions with less stress.
At NeuroNurtured, therapy is individualised and neuro-affirming, aiming to increase confidence, reduce frustration, and support meaningful connection, not to change who a child is.
We focus on whatever your child needs to thrive, whether that’s understanding their neurodivergence (no formal diagnosis required), exploring why they respond in certain ways, developing strategies to manage anxiety, navigating friendships and relationships, or any other area that matters to them. This isn’t about grammar or vocabulary drills, it’s about helping your child grow into the person they want to be.

Coaching
Coaching is a collaborative, goal-focused process that supports a person to think, learn, and grow by building insight, confidence, and practical strategies. A lot of the young people I work with don't see the need for speech and language therapy, but do like having an autism or AuDHD coach.
Coaching is often used to support autistic children and young people:

-
understand themselves and their neurodivergence
-
build confidence and self-advocacy
-
develop strategies for anxiety, organisation, communication, or transitions
-
navigate school, work, or social expectations in a neuro-affirming way

Coaching is not diagnostic and does not replace therapy or specialist intervention when these are needed. Instead, it complements other supports by focusing on empowerment, understanding, and day-to-day functioning.
Advocating for your child

Attendance at meetings
I can attend meetings such as EHCP reviews, Annual Reviews, or Team Around the Child meetings to advocate for your child, provided I have worked with them through an assessment or individual sessions.
I always act in the child’s best interests, promoting neuro-affirming practice. While I may not always advocate for additional speech and language therapy, I can recommend reasonable adjustments or appropriate changes in school.
I also have extensive experience supporting families in mediated settings and tribunals.
