Nurturing every neurodivergent mind

I’m Helen Cooke, a highly specialist speech and language therapist for autistic children and young people, an advanced AuDHD coach (for people who are both autistic and ADHD), founder of NeuroNurtured and mum to a neurodivergent daughter.

I spent 18 years working in the NHS and now lead NeuroNurtured, where I provide speech and language therapy, coaching and training for autistic children and young people, their families, and the professionals who support them.

My work is rooted in celebrating neurodiversity and helping young people understand, value and feel confident in their own neurotype. I have a particular specialism in supporting cognitively able autistic children who are often anxious and overlooked - I affectionately call them “Triple As”: Autistic, Able and Anxious.

At NeuroNurtured, I support the whole team: individual speech and language therapy for neurodivergent children, coaching for their parents, and training and supervision for their teachers and health professionals.

I’m based in North London and offer in-person speech and language therapy locally, with online speech and language therapy, coaching and training available worldwide.

In a world that is often skewed biased towards seeing the negative in all scenarios, I ask you: "What's the best that could happen?"

My services

At NeuroNurtured, I support the whole team: individual speech and language therapy for neurodivergent children, coaching for their parents, and training and supervision for their teachers and health professionals.

What's the best that could happen?

Autistic children and young people don't need traditional therapy that teaches them how to act, what to say, or how to behave. They need to learn to understand their own neurotype and be supported to thrive in a largely neurotypical world. That works best when we work as a team.

My work is shaped by nearly 20 years’ experience as a highly specialist speech and language therapist, including senior NHS leadership roles, a Master’s degree in autism, and accreditation as an AuDHD coach. Families often come to me when a child’s needs are complex, when anxiety is high, or when they feel their child has been overlooked by standard pathways.

As well as individual therapy, coaching and training, I also have extensive experience of carrying out complex assessments (including ADOS-2 as part of a multidisciplinary team), and writing reports for onward referral (e.g. CAMHS) and for EHCP.

If you are not sure what support would work best for you, book a free 30 minute consultation and we can discuss how NeuroNurtured can best support you.

Speech & language therapy

Speech and language therapy for autistic children supports them to understand and express themselves, build meaningful connections with others, and communicate in ways that feel right for them. It also helps reduce frustration and anxiety by finding practical, neuro-affirming ways for their voice to be heard.

Coaching

Coaching gives parents, neurodivergent teachers, and health professionals a supportive space to make sense of autism, build confidence, and develop practical strategies that genuinely work in everyday life. It focuses on understanding strengths and needs, reducing stress, and helping everyone feel more empowered and effective.

Training

Training provides clear, practical learning about autism and neurodivergence so parents, neurodivergent teachers, and health professionals can better understand behaviour, communication, and wellbeing. It builds shared knowledge and confidence, helping everyone to create more supportive, neuro-affirming environments.
