Conflict of Interest Policy
Purpose
NeuroNurtured is committed to providing impartial, ethical and professional services. A conflict of interest occurs where personal, professional or financial relationships could influence, or be perceived to influence, professional judgement.
Maintaining transparency is particularly important when contributing to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments or tribunal proceedings.
Identifying Conflicts
Potential conflicts may include situations where:
-
A child attends the same class or school as the clinician’s own child
-
A close personal relationship exists with a family or school staff member
-
The clinician has previously been directly involved in a dispute relating to the case
-
Financial interests could influence professional recommendations
-
Managing Conflicts
Where a potential conflict arises:
-
It will be declared openly to the relevant parties.
-
Consideration will be given to whether it is appropriate to continue involvement.
-
Where impartiality could reasonably be questioned, NeuroNurtured will decline the work or recommend an alternative professional.
-
Transparency in Reports
All reports produced for statutory assessment or tribunal purposes will include a declaration confirming that:
-
Professional opinions are independent
-
Recommendations are based solely on the child’s needs
-
Any potential conflicts have been declared.
This approach supports fair decision-making for children and families.
